The NASA - Mars Curiosity Rover and Laboratory used its Navigation Camera (or "NavcCam", for short) to capture this beatful view on April 11, 2015, during the 952nd Martian Day, or Sol, of the Rover's work on Mars, inside Gale Crater. The Rover's location, at the time when the picture was taken, was in a Valley nicknamed "Artist's Drive", on the route up to Mount Sharp. The view spans from East, at left (Sx), to South/West, at right (Dx). The upper portion of Mount Sharp appears on the Horizon, on the left (Sx). This picture (which is an Original b/w Image obtained by the NASA - Mars Curiosity Rover and Laboratory on March, 11, 2015, and identified, on the NASA - Planetary Photojournal, by the ID n. PIA-19386) has been additionally processed, magnified in order to help the visibility of the Landscape's details, Gamma corrected and then colorized in Absolute Natural Colors (such as the colors that a normal - in the average - human eye would actually perceive if someone were on the Surface of Mars, near the NASA - Mars Curiosity Rover and Laboratory, and then looked ahead, towards the Horizon and Sky above Gale Crater), by using an original technique created - and, in time, dramatically improved - by the Lunar Explorer Italia Team. |
