Hello Everybody and Welcome to the "E-APOD", such as the "European Astronomy Picture of the Day": a new daily encounter with the beauties and misteries of our Solar System which is brought to you by the joint collaboration between Lunar Explorer Italia (Lunexit) and the Italian Planetary Foundation (IPF).

Since this one is the first issue of the European APOD, we wish to thank, above all, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for being the Main Source of our Inspiration as well as of the Scientific Material that we used, use and shall use in the future.

Afterwards, we want to thank the Founders, Partners and Friends of both Lunar Explorer Italia and the Italian Planetary Foundation, whose joint efforts allowed us to create this small - but, as we hope, interesting and controversial - new "Meeting Point" for all those who enjoy, either professionally or amatorially, to explore and then (try) to interpret the Universe in general and our Solar System in particular.

It is our goal to offer you, as long as we shall have enough strenghth and goodwill, a "Vision" of the Space Exploration that, as you will learn, in time, wants to be not only pragmatical (in the sense of "Scientifically Correct), but also wisely "open" to the Unknown. We think (since we are all Professionals in this Matter) that the Human Science is a tool - "The Main Tool" - that must always be used to learn and to understand the uncountable complexities of the Space Exploration and Planetary Science, but we also believe that, sometimes, said Human Science might simply be not enough (we mean: not sufficient) to explain, in a complete, convincing and rational way, everything we see, study and then try to interpret.

The Universe, as everybody knows (or should know...), is a pretty big place, and so it is our Solar System. Our Human Science can explain a lot of what we see (or even NOT see), but we are still far away from what we like to call a "Universal Understanding".

Our Journey, Dear Friends, is just at its beginnings and so...Fasten your seatbelts and, if you wish, enjoy the Ride!
